The Challenge
On August 4, 2024, a global cybersecurity incident involving Mobile Guardian affected around 13,000 Singaporean secondary school
students, causing their Personal Learning Devices (PLDs) to be remotely wiped. Within two weeks, the Ministry of Education removed
the Mobile Guardian app from all school iPads and urgently reevaluated MDM solutions to restore device management and control.
The priority was a rapid, secure transition that maintained uninterrupted learning for students while rebuilding public confidence in the PLD program.
The Solution
AsiaPac provided the digital controls necessary for content filtering and network threat protection, directly supporting the Cyber Wellness goals of the National Digital Literacy
Programme by blocking inappropriate content and malware. We transitioned MOE’s existing framework from Mobile Guardian to new ecosystem and delivered a proof of concept within a short timeframe, ensuring strong cybersecurity for schools while maintaining operational efficiency for MOE.
The Outcome
With the industry-leading, specialised solutions for PLDs, schools gained a safer and more reliable digital learning environment. Cybersecurity was strengthened, reducing the risk of breaches,
remote wipes, or data loss that had previously disrupted learning. Students could focus better, supported by consistent web content filtering and screen time controls, while teachers and IT staff enjoyed stable and easy-to-use tools that keep lessons running smoothly and uninterrupted.
